17 hurt in Sorsogon jeep-truck collision

LEGAZPI CITY, Albay – Seventeen persons were injured in a collision between a passenger jeepney and a mixer truck in Barangay San Vicente, Castilla town, Sorsogon province on Sunday morning, October 13.

Police Lt. Col. Malu Calubaquib, Police Regional Office-5 spokesperson, said  the passenger jeepney driven by Pedro Agripa Desquitado, 56, of Barangay Salvacion, Sorsogon City, veered into the lane and rammed the  mixer truck driven by Edgar Arimado Enguera, 53, of Barangay Abuyog, Sorsogon City.

Reports said the jeepney's front sustained extensive damage and the injured sprawled on the road.

The injured – 15 jeepney passengers and the two drivers – were taken to hospitals.

Reports said the jeepney was on its way to Sorsogon City and the mixer truck was headed to Legazpi City when the accident happened.

Follow-up investigation is ongoing.
