Mandaluyong on a roll in DOF's financial excellence awards


The Mandaluyong City local government received several recognitions from the Department of Finance (DOF) Bureau of Local Government Finance (BLGF) for its exemplary expense management and increased revenue performance for fiscal years 2022 and 2023.

According to Mandaluyong City Mayor Ben Abalos, the city secured the top five spot for highest local sourced revenue to total current operating income among all cities in the Philippines.

In 2023, the city improved its ranking, moving up to fourth place which highlights the city’s success in generating significant income from local sources.

Meanwhile, Mandaluyong also stood out for its responsible use of resources and ranked fourth highest total current operating expenditure per capita in FY 2022 and FY 2023. This feat showed how well the city government spends on public services and essential needs based on the size of its population.

Additionally, Mandaluyong ranked seventh among the highly urbanized cities in the country with year-on-year growth in local source revenues for FY 2023.

"The awards from the BLGF confirm Mandaluyong City’s leadership, with a clear focus on improving the lives of its residents, ensures progress in both financial management and governance," Abalos said.
