The Pasay City government announced the suspension of classes in all levels both in public and private schools, including government works on October 14 and 15 to give way to the country's hosting of the Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (APMCDRR) to be held at the International Convention Center (PICC).

Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano explained that the suspension of classes and government work was made based on  Memorandum Circular 66 issued by the Malacañang for the country’s hosting of the events.

Only offices involved in the delivery of vital services, health services, and disaster preparedness and response will remain open and continue their operations.

Meanwhile, the suspension of work in private companies and offices is left to the discretion of its respective employers and management.

The mayor explained the APMCDRR event, which was convened by the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR), is expected to draw more than 4,000 participants from 69 countries and highlight disaster risk reduction initiatives and investments of participating nations.
