P20-M shabu recovered in Sulu drug sting

COTABATO CITY – The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency arrested a barangay councilor and recovered three kilos of suspected shabu valued at P20 million in a buy-bust operation in Jolo, Sulu on Thursday, October 10.

Gil Cesario Castro, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region, identified the suspect as Kaber Jailani Yusop, 46, councilor of Barangay Lakit, Panamao, Sulu. Also seized from the suspect was Honda motorcycle.

Yusop’s companion, identified as Weng Najar, eluded arrest.

Castro said Yusop was a big-time drug trafficker operating in Sulu and Zamboanga City.

Yusop is under the custody of the Jolo police station and faces illegal drug charges.

The PDEA conducted the operation with police and the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency as backup.
