Nationalist People's Coalition candidates dominate COC filing in Angono, Rizal


Ten out of sixteen aspirants for the local government positions in Angono, Rizal are members of the Nationalist People's Coalition (NPC).

The office of Angono election officer Frendy Del Rosario revealed that 10 aspirants, including Mayor Jeri Mae Calderon and Vice Mayor Gerardo Calderon, who filed their respective certificate of candidacy (COC), are members of the NPC. 

It was also learned from Comelec Angono office that eight individuals who filed their COCs for Sangguniang Bayan posts (municipal councilors) belong to NPC.

Six of the 16 Sangguniang Bayan aspirants in Angono filed their COCs as independent candidates.

Vice Mayor Calderon filed his bid for mayoralty while his daughter, who is the current mayor, filed her COC for vice mayor.

During her speech on Tuesday, October 8, right after she filed her COC, Mayor Jeri Mae revealed that she will pursue her post graduate studies, a reason why she opted to run as a vice mayor instead of continuing her political career as the municipal mayor in the Art Capital of the Country.

Vice Mayor Calderon said the eight aspirants for the Sangguniang Bayan positions, who were chosen by the local party officials through a process, represent various sectors in the municipality.
