Cordillera lawmen net 37 wanted persons


CAMP DANGWA, Benguet – Police caught 37 wanted individuals in the Cordillera region from October 4 to 10.

The Regional Investigation and Detective Management Division of the Police Regional Office-Cordillera said the Baguio City Police Office nabbed 17 persons, followed by the Benguet Police Provincial Office with nine, Kalinga and Ifugao PPO with three each, Abra and Mountain Province PPO with two each, and Apayao PPO with one.

Sixty municipalities in the region, including four police stations in Baguio City, were crime-free due to intensified police presence  – 25 municipalities in Abra, 10 in Benguet, eight municipalities in Ifugao and Mountain Province, five municipalities in Apayao, and four municipalities in Kalinga and the Police Stations 4, 6, 8, and 9 in Baguio City.

The PRO-Cordillera said there was a significant 39 percent decrease in the Peace and Order Indicator (POI) and a one percent decrease in the average weekly crime rate compared to data from the same period last year.

 It added that lawmen achieved an 80 percent crime clearance rate and a 64 percent crime-solving efficiency. These, it said, reflected their dedicated efforts in promoting public safety and solving crime.
