12 houses razed in Cebu City fire


CEBU CITY – Twelve houses were razed and three others were damaged in a fire in Barangay Mambaling here on Saturday, October 12.

The fire started at 3:38 a.m. and was put out at 5:17 a.m., said FO3 Fulbert Navarro of the Cebu City Fire Station.

The cause of the fire that started at the house owned by Lourdes Stella is still being investigated, Navarro said.

Two residents were injured after they tried to save some belongings from their houses. 

Damage to property was placed at P1.2 million, said Navarro.

Councilor Joel Garganera said that packed meals good for three days have been distributed to fire victims.

Garganera said that 24 families composed of 124 individuals were displaced by the fire. 

The displaced families are temporarily taking shelter at the barangay’s elementary school, said Garganera.
