The push for electrification is beginning with commercial vehicles too. Many commercial vehicle brands are beginning to integrate ways to reduce the carbon footprint of logistics.

Truck maker, Fuso, distributed by Sojitz Fuso Philippines Corporation, is the next to join this wave with the Fuso eCanter. The upcoming vehicle was spied with camouflage livery being delivered to a facility for testing.

The Fuso e-Canter is capable of a driving range of up to 200 kilometers on a full charge of its 124-kWh battery. It can climb 20 percent inclines and can run at a top speed of 89 km/h. It’s propelled by compact e-Axle powertrain which integrates the axle, reduction gear, motor, and inverter. This powertrain puts out 175-horsepower.

Fuso has engineered the vehicle to make operations cleaner while reducing down time. It can be quickly charged through a number of ways. A full charge can take just six-hours on a three-phase AC connection, replenishing power with a 22-kW charging rate. For facilities with a 70-kW DC fast charger (104 kW charging), this can be done in just 90 minutes.

To further increase its range while on the road, the e-Canter comes with regenerative braking. Its battery is also temperature-controlled to maximize range. When power from the grid goes out, it can also power external devices with its vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability.
