2 men arrested for robbing ATM in Iloilo City


ILOILO CITY – The Iloilo City Police Office apprehended two men for allegedly robbing an Automated Teller Machine in a mall in this city on Wednesday, October 9.

Police Capt. Shella Mae Sangrines, ICPO spokesperson, said the suspects – alias Jun-Jun, 37, from Sagay City,  Negros Occidental province and Rap, 39, from Oton, Iloilo town – carted away P340,000.

Investigators from the ICPO-Police Station 1 led by Capt. Roque C. Gimeno III backtracked closed-circuit television camera footages and identified the suspects and their getaway car, a white Suzuki Dzire, which was located hours after the incident.

A chase ensued and police cornered the car driven by Jun-Jun who tagged Rap as his accomplice. Police mounted a follow-up operation and nabbed Rap in Oton. 

ICPO chief Police Col. Kim Legada cited the efforts of the ICPO-Police Station 1 as well as the Barotac Nuevo Municipal Police Station and Pavia Municipal Police Station for lending a hand in the apprehension of the suspects.
