Nida Amolar, PSA-6 officer-in-charge and chief statistical specialist, said the inflation rate dropped by 1.5 percent from 4.8 percent in August 2024.

“The deceleration in the Western Visayas inflation rate in September 2024 was mainly due to the slower annual growth in the index price of food and non-alcoholic beverages,” Amolar said.

The index price for food and non-alcoholic beverages went down to 3.3 percent from 6.2 percent in August.

Transportation costs also dropped from 0.7 percent to -2.1 percent in August.

For the first time in months, Aklan province recorded the lowest inflation rate in September at 2.3 percent.

The island-province of Guimaras recorded the highest inflation rate at 4.7 percent.

Iloilo province and Bacolod City had similar 3.9 percent inflation rate.

The provinces of Capiz and Negros Occidental registered an inflation rate of 3.2 percent.

Antique province had an inflation rate of 2.4 percent.
