P1.53-million meth seized from courier service provider employees in Taguig


Authorities arrested two drug suspects who are part-time employees of a local courier service provider in a buy-bust operation in Taguig on Sept. 20. 

Brig. Gen. Bernard Yang, new chief of the Southern Police District (SPD), said the joint operation was done by the SPD Drug Enforcement Unit, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency- Southern District Office,  District Intelligence Division, District Special Operations Unit, District Mobile Force Battalion and the Taguig Police Substation 7 at about 11:45 p.m. in Barangay Maharlika, Taguig.

The police identified the suspects as alias Kar, 35, and  alias Meriam, 30, both residents of the barangay. 

During the operation, authorities seized seven plastic sachets containing 225 grams of meth valued at P1.53 million. 

They also confiscated one genuine P1,000 bill on top of 24 pieces of P1,000 boodle money, and a cell phone. 

The two suspects will be charged for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
