CAVITE – Cavite 7th District Board Member Francisco Gabriel “Abeng” Remulla filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) for governor in the 2025 midterm elections on Tuesday, Oct. 8.

Joining Remulla was his running mate, Cavite 2nd District Board Member Ram Revilla, who filed his COC for vice governor.

Remulla will be replacing his uncle, newly appointed Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Sec. Jonvic Remulla, in the gubernatorial race.

Jonvic withdrew his candidacy on Oct. 7, a day before he took his oath as DILG secretary before President Marcos in Malacañang.

Abeng, the son of Justice Secretary Boying Remulla, was designated by the National Unity Party as a board member in 2023. He replaced his brother, Crispin Diego “Ping,” who was elected as Cavite's 7th District representative during a special election held after their father vacated the congressional seat to accept his cabinet post.

Ram Revilla, the son of Senator Bong Revilla and Cavite 2nd District Representative Lani Mercado-Revilla, will be vying for the position previously held by his older brother, Cavite 1st District Representative Jolo Revilla, from 2013 to 2022.
