The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) rescued six fishermen whose motorboat was stalled in the middle of the sea in Banton, Romblon on Sunday, Oct. 6.

The PCG identified the fishermen as Lawrence Molina, Ryan Berano, Virgilio Borito Jr., Emmanuel Fernandez Jr., Dan John Martinez, and Edison Dasina; all of them hail from Romblon.

The fishermen were conducting a fishing venture in the vicinity waters of Barangay Mainit when their motorboat suddenly encountered a mechanical failure around 10 a.m.

The Coast Guard Sub-Station Banton received a report about the situation of the fishermen so a search and rescue operation was immediately launched, leading to the group’s rescue.

The PCG response team also towed the distressed motorboat towards the nearest shoreline in Brgy. Poblacion for needed repairs.
