Commission on Elections (Comelec) Chairman George Erwin Garcia is no longer concerned with the activities of St. Timothy Construction Corporation (STCC) after it backed out from the joint venture with 2025 poll systems provider Miru.

"Satin naman po wala tayong dapat ipanawagan sa mga botante ng Pasig sapagkat sa kasalukuyan base rin sa monitoring natin...di pa naman nagfifile ng certificate of candidacy (COC) at hindi namin alam kung magkakatuluyan yung filing (We don't have anything to appeal to the Pasig voters because, as of our current monitoring, none of the candidates have filed their COC yet, and we're not sure if they will be able to meet the filing deadline)," he said in a press conference on Saturday, Oct. 5.

Basta ang importante (What's important) as far as Comelec is concerned we took a giant step at least sa part namin. We took a proactive stand that either they will have to choose business versus politics and they have chosen perhaps politics dahil nag-withdraw sila sa (because they withdrew from the) joint venture," he added.

The poll chief also stressed this during the previous press conference.

"Hindi na namin problema yung kanilang kinalalagyan sa kasalukuyan (Their current situation is no longer our concern)," he said in a press concerence on Friday, Oct. 4.

STCC is one of the local partners of Miru Systems (Miru) in the Automated Election System (AES) for the 2025 National and Local Elections. It chose to withdraw after the poll body learned of its owners' possible election bid.

Comelec has said that is will not allow the integrity of the elections to be compromised.

In a statement, the Discayas dispelled speculation that their family was still engaged in the joint venture that Comelec contracted to provide the technology and apparatus for next year’s mid-term elections.

Curlee Discaya, the husband of Sarah who was reportedly urged by Pasig multi-sectoral groups to run against the incumbent mayor, said “[Mayor Vico] Sotto should stop spreading lies about our family and focus instead on improving the LGU’s basic services for Pasigueños, like the lack of medicines in the city government-run hospitals and his promised support for the learners which remains unfulfilled.”

He also reiterated his offer to the mayor for St. Gerrard construction engineers to provide the city government with the engineering plans and design for the construction of the new city hall complex, which the intended cost of almost P1 billion would be donated by the Discayas for the building of an additional hospital complete with medical facilities and enough supplies of medicines for the city’s indigents.

Many Pasigueños are having a hard time going around different places in the city to find the offices to attend to their transactions because they're located in various areas. I reiterate our donation for the design of the new city hall, which costs almost a billion pesos, it's a donation from me to be used for the greater needs of our fellow citizens),” said Discaya.

Some city government offices were relocated to the temporary city hall last Sept. 16 as part of the Pasig City Hall redevelopment plan.

Offices that are not included in the relocation will be moved to the Pasig City Sports Center to remain accessible to the public.

Sotto explained that the relocation was made due to structural issues found at the current Pasig City Hall such as cracks and fissures on its walls, floors, and other areas, along with complaints of leakages, uneven ground, and other similar issues.

Curlee stated that he wrote to Sotto regarding the P9.6-billion approved budget for the contract (ABC) for the redevelopment of Pasig City Hall, which also included a donation from their firm.

"Kalakip noon ang donasyon ng aming construction firm para gumawa detailed engineering plans and design na ang babayaran ninyong mahigit P850 milyon ay gamitin natin sa mas kinakailangang serbisyo para sa Pasigueños (This includes a donation from our construction firm to create detailed engineering plans so that the amount of P850 million that you will pay can be used for the needed services of Pasigueños,” Curlee said.
