Thousands of people gathered at the Manila City Hall to Kartilya ng Katipunan to show their support to reelectionist Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan as she filed her certificate of candidacy for her second term as local chief executive of the capital city on Thursday morning, October 3.
The incumbent mayor filed her COC along with Vice Mayor John Marvin “Yul Servo” Nieto who is also running under the local ruling party Asenso Manileño.
Their supporters, who were wearing blue t-shirts, were seen holding balloons and placards with messages supporting the Lacuna-Servo tandem.
The group were also chanting "Isa pa," "Honey-Yul," and "Walang Magbabalik."
The Lacuna-Servo tandem was also accompanied by Manila congressmen and councilors who are also running under Asenso Manileño.
In her speech, the mayor vowed to continue achieving greater heights for the city, citing the prestige awards received by the city under her administration.
"Sa lahat ng di nagtaksil. Maraming maraming salamat po. Mananalo po tayo. Itaga niyo 'yan sa bato. Hinding hindi kami matitinag at hinding hindi namin kayo iiwanan (To all who did not betray me. Thank you very much. We will win. We will never waver and we will never leave you)," she said.
Meanwhile, Nieto also expressed her gratitude to all the supporters who came and joined them in filing their COCs.
"Makakaasa kayo mga batang Manileño, ang tambalang Honey-Yul ay maglilikod lang ng may kalinga at magpapamalas ng disiplina at lalaban ng patas at may respeto (Manileños, you can count on the Honey-Yul tandem to serve with discipline and fight fairly and with respect," Nieto said.
