MRT-3 warns public vs fake Facebook pages promoting fraudulent free rides

The Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) issued a warning to the public on Thursday, Oct. 3, against "fake" social media accounts pretending to be its affiliates to promote unauthorized free ride offers.

In a statement, MRT-3 clarified that it has no connection with the Facebook pages "Manila Transport" and "Manila Metro," which have been disseminating misleading information about free rides.

The agency emphasized that these promotions are illegitimate and should be disregarded.

To ensure public safety, the rail operator reminded commuters that all official updates and announcements are exclusively shared through its verified Facebook page.

Additionally, MRT-3 stressed that it will never request personal information, including bank account details, from passengers.

As reports of scams targeting commuters have risen, MRT-3 urged the public to remain vigilant against suspicious social media accounts.

Passengers are encouraged to rely solely on the agency’s official platforms for accurate information and to protect themselves from potential fraud.
