'Generally peaceful': Las Piñas cops on first day of COC filing

The first day of filing the certificate of candidacy for the May 2025 midterm elections on October 1 is generally peaceful, the Las Piñas Police said.

Las Piñas Police Chief Col. Sandro Tafalla said a total of 16 policemen and one from the Philippine Air Force were deployed at the Commission on Elections (Comelec) office at the Las Piñas City Hall compound to secure the safety of the candidates who will be filing their COC.

He said four candidates running for councilor filed their candidacies on the first day.

Carlson Andal Pascual, Jefferson Sopoco Boyo, Berlin Reyes Dela Cruz, and Marino Lintang Chavez filed their candidacies for councilor with no political party

Meanwhile, Tafalla said that so far, no one from the known political party has filed their COCs.

Authorities said they will continue to conduct monitoring and deploy policemen at the Comelec to ensure the peaceful conduct of the COC filing.
