Abby Viduya, Yeoj Marquez are running for councilor in Paranaque

Actress Abby Viduya will run as Paranaque City’s first district councilor in next year’s midterm election.

Viduya, also known as Priscilla Almeda, will replace his actor-husband Jomari Yllana, who served as city councilor for three terms or nine years.

Viduya will be included in the ticket of Paranaque 1st District Rep. Edwin Olivarez, who is gunning for the mayoralty race under the administration’s Lakas-CMD party. Rep. Olivarez will be switching with his younger brother, Mayor Eric Olivarez.

Eric is reportedly running unopposed as the first district representative.

The running mate of the elder Olivarez will be incumbent Vice Mayor Joan Villafuerte, a former television reporter for ABS-CBN’s Bantay Bata 163.

Olivarez’s eldest son, Paolo Olivarez, the first district topnotcher councilor during the 2022 synchronized elections, is also seeking reelection.

Yllana, the council’s minority floor leader, and Viduya tied the knot in November last year in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. He rose to fame as one of the 1990s teen group “Gwapings.”

His younger brother, John Ryan Yllana, is a termer councilor in the city’s second district. Their older brother, Anjo Yllana, is a former city councilor and vice mayor.

Meanwhile, Yeoj Marquez, the second child of comedian-actor and former Paranaque Mayor Joey Marquez and actress Alma Moreno, is also included in the slate of Olivarez-Villafuerte as 1st District Councilor.

Yeoj will replace actor Vandolf Quizon, a last-term city councilor. Vandolf is the only son of Moreno and the late comedy king, Dolphy. Moreno is presently the councilwoman of Barangay Tambo, while the incumbent chairman of Barangay Tambo is former dancer Jenny Quizon, Vandolf’s wife.

Rep. Olivarez also disclosed that reelectionist councilor Brillante “Bok” Inciong is included in their ticket. Inciong is a former member of the Maculados dance group.

Incumbent 1st District Councilor Allen Ford Tan will be a contender again as city dad, under Olivarez's ticket. Tan is the singer's husband named “Sentimental Diva” Roselle Nava.  

First district councilors under Olivarez’s ticket include reelectionist Daniel Eric Baes, former city public information chief Rida Gabriel, and Guada Golez, daughter of former Rep. Roilo Golez.

In the city’s District 2, the candidates for councilors are reflectionist lawyers Jerome Bart Frias, Rico Golez, Florencia Amurao, Maria Kristine Esplana, and Rafael Lito de la Pena.

Returning councilor Wahoo Sotto will replace his wife-councilor, Nina Celine. Wahoo is the son of former city councilor Val Sotto and brother of former Sen. Tito Sotto. On the other hand, Sheila Benzon replaced her husband-councilor Edwin Benzon, a last termer, to complete the slate under Olivarez’s team.
