Authorities said some of the guidelines issued ahead of the conduct of the Traslacion on Jan. 9 were not followed by the devotees.
During the procession, devotees were seen not wearing face masks despite the advisory issued by the city government.
Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan strongly encouraged the devotees to wear face masks to avoid a surge in Covid-19 cases and other respiratory diseases.
Several devotees were also seen climbing the carriage of the Black Nazarene or "andas," despite being prevented by marshals and volunteers of Hijos del Nazareno.
There were also devotees who brought their children to the Traslacion which the authorities have already prohibited days before the Feast of the Black Nazarene.
Authorities urged the devotees to strictly follow the guidelines and refrain from climbing the carriage for a smoother and faster procession.
The public was also advised against touching and kissing religious images to avoid the transmission of communicable diseases.
