Jo Koy finds an ally in Whoopi Goldberg: 'He makes me crazy because he's funny'

Oscar winner Whoopi Goldberg has nothing but praise for Filipino-American comedian Jo Koy, who was panned for his monologue at the 81st Golden Globe in Beverly Hills, California, last Sunday (Monday morning, Manila time).
During an episode for The View, Whoopi said: "These hosting gigs are brutal. If you don't know the room, if you've not been in these rooms before, and you're thrust out there, it's hit or miss.
"I love Jo Koy. He makes me crazy because he's funny.
'I don't know whether it was the room, I don't know whether it was the jokes, I didn't get to see it,' Goldberg said. 'But I do know that he is as good as it gets when it comes to stand-ups, and it is not an easy gig," she said.
Whoopi mentioned that she has received criticism during her past hosting jobs.
"If you read any of the reviews of some of the gigs I've had where they wished me into the cornfields. It's no an easy gig," she added.
