Police Lt. Col. John Joel Batusbatusan, Cadiz police chief, said the victim was last seen alive around 7 p.m. on Sunday, January 7.

Her family searched for her when she failed to go home that night. The following day, she was found dead several meters away from their house around 7 a.m.

Batusbatusan said the victim's left ear was cut, her neck was slashed, and her 10 fingers on both hands were chopped.

Police recovered a bolo from the crime scene.

Batusbatusan said that the victim was raped based on medico-legal examination.

Police tagged a 62-year-old man who lives with the victim as a suspect in the crime.  "They are not related by blood, but they are living under the same roof,” Batusbatusan said.

Batusbatusan said the suspect is the father of the new lover of the victim's mother. He said the suspect was nowhere to be found after the incident.
