Globe gets Green Gala Award


Globe Telecom Inc. has been awarded a Green Gala Award by the Climate Change Commission (CCC) and the Rotary Club of Makati Business District for its efforts in providing sustainable technology solutions. 

The Green Gala Awards honors stakeholders in the private sector, organizations, and individuals who have made significant contributions in climate development.

On behalf of the firm, Globe Group Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications Officer Yoly Crisanto said Globe is "wholeheartedly committed to transforming our network operations towards being more eco-friendly, aligning our efforts with the government's Climate Action targets."

"Our initiatives are in support of the global ambition of achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050," she added, echoing the CCC's own emissions reduction target of 75 percent by 2030. 

As the firm shfits to renewable energy (RE) to power its operations, Globe has so far deployed 9,000 green network solutions including solar hybrid gensets and onsite solar panels, and utilized intelligent monitoring systems for energy efficiency. 

"Globe's innovative approach to sustainability sets a benchmark for other corporations. Their dedication to developing and implementing environment-friendly technologies is crucial in our collective effort to combat climate change," said Green Gala Awards Founder and Chairperson Marichelle Torres-Ackerman. 

Aside from Globe garnering its own award, the firm itself has also recognized its business partners who have implemented sustainability practices in their own businesses during Globe's 20th Annual Business Partners Appreciation event. 

It honored its top 100 partner companies in various categories like Commercial and Business Enabling, Information Technology (IT) Build, Maintenance, Technology, and Sustainability, 

“As a sustainability champion, Globe is working towards embedding Environment, Social and Governance principles and policies in our business operations as part of our commitment to sustainable development and business strategy of establishing a sustainable supply chain,” said Crisanto. 

In early 2023, Globe piloted the Globe Sustainability Academy for Supply Chain in partnership with the Makati Business Club (MBC), to train five local micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) dabbling in printing services, advertising materials, telecom subscriber line installation, facility maintenance, and civil works.

The firm has also encouragesd its suppliers to comply with the sustainability principles underlines in its Supplier Code of Ethics (SCOE), and newly introduced sustainability as a criteria in its evaluation for vendor selection.
