Panagbenga 2024 kicks off in Baguio City


BAGUIO CITY – The month-long 28th Panagbenga Festival 2024 with the theme "Celebrating Traditions, Embracing Innovation" kicked off on Thursday, February 1, with the opening of the Panagbengascapes and Market Encounter.

Mayor Benjamin Magalong, Rep. Mark Go, city officials, and executives of the Baguio Flower Festival Foundation Inc. inaugurated the Garden Exhibits of the Panagbengascapes open category competition at the Melvin Jones Football Ground in Burnham Park.

Professional landscapers from the Wood, Rock, and Flowers Group submitted six entries while five entries came from the Panagbenga Landscaper Society.

Eleven participants all have entries in the open landscape category and the vertical category on the side of the Market Encounter in Burnham Park.

The garden exhibit is free to view from February 1 to March 3.

The Market Encounter was also inaugurated inside Burnham Park where residents and tourists can buy a variety of products at low cost.

Magalong thanked the organizer of the Market Encounter for making their booths neat, beautiful, and organized.

"We see every year that our celebration is leveling up because of the unity and cooperation between the city government and the BFFFI, to improve and enrich the celebration of this historic occasion every February," said Magalong.

On Saturday, February 3, the Panagbenga Drum and Lyre Street-dancing Competition participated in by elementary students will be held. 

Tourists are expected to troop to the grand street-dancing and flower float competition on February 24 and 26.
