THE provincial government of Samar launched its Ospital sa Barangay program to bring medical services closer to the people.

Gov. Sharee Ann Tan lamented that she has seen and heard how her constituents face challenges in accessing medical services despite being free in hospitals during her visits.

"I have heard their plight, that is why we have strategized this program where our medical experts provide the much-needed health care of our fellow Samarnons," she said.

Consultation is usually conducted by medical experts wherein patients are provided with the necessary medicines and supplements.

Through OSB, medical teams also provide services that are normally seen in hospitals or clinics such as laboratory tests, ultrasounds, and X-rays.

A referral system has also been implemented where patients needing additional medical attention are referred to the Samar Provincial Hospital in Catbalogan City for further treatment.

The provincial government also partnered with One Life to create a digital healthcare system that makes diagnostics and health data available.

Through the system, the province can get data on the general health status of the people of Samar, which provides an avenue to come up with programs that would best cater to the needs of the people.

The program has served a total of 34, 987 patients from November 16 to January 22.

Tan said medical teams will continue to visit barangays in different municipalities and cities in the province to best serve the people.
