Despite shooting just 1-of-8 from the field, the veteran guard nailed a booming triple from near half court that capped a deciding 11-0 rally in Magnolia’s 82-78 victory over the Phoenix in Game 2 of the semis series.

“Shooter mentality lang. Kung malas ka, kung sablay yung tinira mo, focus on the next shots. Kumbaga hindi naman doon natatapos yun. Kung hindi ko man na-shoot yun, go back again sa gym tomorrow, practice ulit, and ready for the next one,” said Lee.

Lee said he only needed a little bit of space and a good look at the basket to finally see the ball go through the bottom of the net – something that actually surprised him when he took the clutch trey especially after being hounded by Phoenix defense all game long.

“All I need is an open look and just need to be ready kasi hindi mo alam kung kailangan darating yung ganoong klase ng opportunity,” said Lee who only finished with six points in the contest.

“And again, 'yung shot clock paubos na rin, so kailangan ko lang din siya itira. 'Yung maganda is nagkaroon ng – I don’t know bakit siya nag-help papunta kay Mark. Nagkaroon ako ng little bit of space para maitira nang mas maayos,” he added.

And it was not only Lee who didn’t doubt his ability to shoot but, more importantly, his teammates and coaches. In fact, even when he was shooting miserably from the field, head coach Chito Victolero will have no qualms seeing Lee take the crucial shots.

“I have known Paul for eight years now and I know Paul can hit that shot. He hit a lot of shots in our previous games. Nasa Rain or Shine palang ganyan na siya. Iyan ineensayo ni Paul yan mga shot from 34 feet,” said Victolero.
