Back in 2020, Ryan and Trisha’s happily ever after took a detour when the pandemic’s lockdown forced them to postpone their wedding. In the same year, the couple faced a bigger obstacle when Ryan was diagnosed with cancer. Throughout a grueling series of chemotherapy—a sarcoma tumor removal surgery that threatened the amputation of his left leg muscle in 2021 and his journey to recovery in regaining his strength and mobility—Trisha stayed by his side, providing constant care and comfort to her life partner.

Truly, the couple have proven their commitment to each other, for better or for worse—even before tying the knot. Thus, to finally be able to walk down the aisle and marry each other in front of God and their loved ones after three long and challenging years is more meaningful to Ryan and Trisha beyond words could ever describe.

Ryan and Trisha’s union was held on Jan. 19, 2024 at the Manila Cathedral where they were joined by their respective wedding entourages, friends, and family members. Presiding over their ceremony was Fr. Roberto Luanzon, Jr., who was also the reverend that the couple had chosen to lead the rites for their original wedding date. He also actively prayed over Ryan during his cancer battle, making his sermon more personal and intimate.

Ryan’s vow was filled with immense affection and gratitude towards Trisha, tearfully thanking her for “staying with me through thick or thin.” He professed that “there’s nothing more I can ask from you,” as Trisha had already proven her unwavering commitment even before this big day. “I just wish you’ll never get tired of loving me and caring for me. I love you,” concluded Ryan.

Trisha echoed similar sentiments as she described the early pillars of their relationship and acknowledged how far their relationship, “built with friendship, trust, and honesty,” had come. Having trailed life’s most difficult moments and overcoming them together, Trisha emotionally declared her devotion to Ryan: to “dream with you, celebrate with you, and walk beside you, whatever our lives may bring. I will always choose you.” Her promises, backed with the quiet confidence of a love deeply tested.

The night consisted of heartwarming speeches, but what stole the night was the Mom of the Groom, Aida Yu’s message to Ryan and her new daughter, Trisha, which was straightforward and sweet, followed by her rendition of a medley of songs, like “Got to Believe in Magic,” “Pangako Sayo,” and a Mandarin love song “Tian Mi Mi (Very Sweet in English)” that elicited tears, laughter and cheers among the audience. The Concert King, Martin Nievera, graced the occasion with his powerful vocals, even performing some song numbers together with Ryan and Trisha.

Perhaps the most telling sign of genuine love and care for the couple was the number of guests who lingered long after the formal program had ended. This long awaited ceremony was more than just a typical wedding, it’s a celebration of life and the love and dedication that sustained it!

Forged in resilience, nurtured by patience, and bound by true commitment, Ryan and Trisha’s story is proof that love conquers all.
