Bishop Mayugba recently presided over a holy mass at the Christ the King Mission Seminary Gym in Quezon City as part of the City on A Hill Bible Festival 3 of the Diocese of Cubao Biblical Apostolate in observance of January as National Bible Month.

“As we celebrate the National Bible Month, we celebrate the living word of God. We are assured that indeed, there will always be new life for those who listen to the word of God, receive the word of God in their hearts, and live according to the divine word,” said Bishop Mayugba in his homily.

The Church leader encouraged the faithful to attend the holy masses in their respective parishes as it is an opportunity to feel the redeeming love of Christ which brings renewed hope to all.

“When we feed our minds and our thoughts with the Word of God, and our bodies with the Body and Blood of Christ, we will have the courage, the energy and the wisdom to face the world, face our challenges, our trials and our tragedies. We will not allow ourselves to be defeated by them because we do know that even the Lord, who was crucified rose from the dead. We will have the strength to face all the trials and tragedies that this world can give,” Bishop Mayugba added.

The third Sunday of January is observed as National Bible Sunday, the highlight of the month long observance of National Bible Month. Former President Rodrigo Duterte signed Proclamation No. 124 in 2017 declaring January as National Bible Month.

The theme for this year’s observance is “God’s Word: The Breath of New Life.”
