On Jan. 17, President Marcos, First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, and several government officials inaugurated the  Pasig River Urban Development Showcase Area project dubbed Pasig Bigyan Buhay Muli.

The said project seeks to transform the river into a center of economic activity, tourism, and transportation connectivity within the metropolis.

Marcos described the project as “ambitious but worthwhile.”

The said development project is being spearheaded by the First Lady in collaboration with the Departments of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DSHUD), Interior and Local Government (DILG), Environment and Natural Resources, and the Metro Manila Development Authority.

It aims to transform the Pasig River into "a living river" that will benefit many people by creating a network of parks for neighboring towns, safe bike lanes and walks along its banks, and a greener corridor.

The 25-kilometer Pasig River stretch from Manila Bay to Laguna de Bay is to be transformed into open public parks and mixed-use commercial areas in order to optimize the river's economic potential. This plan was unveiled in August 2023 by the Inter-Agency Council for the Pasig River Urban Development (IAC-PRUD).
