President Marcos and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos enjoyed a night out together as they attended the concert of British rock band Coldplay in Bulacan on Friday, Jan. 19.
The Presidential Communications Office (PCO) confirmed this after photos and videos of the First Couple inside the Philippine Arena surfaced online on Friday evening.
Both the President and the First Lady were captured by other concert goers wearing white in the VIP gallery.
Coldplay is in the Philippines for their "Music of the Spheres" concert tour from Jan. 19 to 20. They last performed in the country in 2017.
This was not the first time President Marcos and First Lady Liza went to a concert together since the former assumed office. In November last year, the First couple attended the concert of American singer-songwriter Daryl Hall in Pasay City on Nov. 27.
The First Lady posted a photo of their "date night" on her Facebook page, which received positive comments from their supporters.
Traffic
Meanwhile, President Marcos was seen on video laughing and covering his face when Coldplay frontman Chris Martin called out the traffic condition in the country.
“We’d like to say thank you so much for all of you for coming through the traffic, holy sh*t!” he said.
“I think, you know, we’ve seen some traffic. But I think you have the number one in the world. You’ve come through that bullsh*t to be here,” he added.
Based on the recently published 2023 Tomtom Traffic Index, Metro Manila has the “worst” traffic condition in the world wherein it would an average of at least 25 minutes to drive for 10 kilometers in the region.
Manila topped the list of 387 metro centers, overtaking Lima, Peru and Bengaluru, India.
Mixed reactions

Some netizens said the use of the helicopter was expected for security reasons, while others aired criticisms for the supposed use of taxpayers' money for the trip.
"Not a fan but he’s a president what do y’all expect," one wrote.
