Firecrackers injure 19 in Cagayan

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan – Nineteen persons were injured by firecrackers in Cagayan on New Year’s Eve.

The Provincial Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (PESU) said this city had the most firecracker victims with nine from December 21 to January 2.

The towns of Baggao, Abulug, and Tuao had two each and the municipalities of Peñablanca, Alcala, Sanchez Mira, Aparri, Gattaran, Ballesteros, and Enrile had one each victim.

Most victims between 10 to 60-years-old were injured by explosives, Fountains, Baby Rocket, Pla-Pla, Boy Bawang, and “boga” or improvised cannon.
