10-hour blackout hits Zamboanga City

ZAMBOANGA CITY A massive blackout affected 11 power feeders of the Zamboanga City Electric Cooperative (Zamcelco) covering a big portion of this city’s east coast due to a scheduled power interruption requested by the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) on Friday, January 19.

The power outage affected the Zamboanga-Tumaga 69KV line due to the “tapping of the 69KV conductors of the Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project to the existing 69 KV bus system of Zamboanga substation in preparation for its energization.”
