Team Malarayat, Katy's Farm surge ahead

LIPA CITY, Batangas -- Team Malarayat and Katys’ Farm-AGAP 1 finished tied with 94 points to hold joint leadership in the championship division of the first Lipa City Fiesta Barako Golf Tournament held at the Mount Malarayat Golf and Country Club on Wednesday, Jan. 17.

Terence Macatangay topscored with 36 Stableford points for Malarayat and was backed up by the 30 of team captain Ivan Avena and 28 of Ray Sangil. The 27 of Carlo Canicosa was disregarded in the four-to-play, three-to-count format.

Gerald Katigbak paced Katy’s Farm-AGAP 1 with 34 and was supported by junior golfer Patrick Tambalque’s 31 and Erik Escalona’s 29.

Ramada, which is tipped to contend for the crown, ended with 88 followed by Summit Point 1 82, Katy’s Farm-AGAP 2 79, Baryoe Pamilya’SuperMLD 63 and Jten 53.

Over at Summit Point Golf and Country Club, the crew of Team Master pooled in 83 points to lead the way in Division A. Roy Abalos and Victor Antiqua posted identical 28s and Rolando delos Santos had 27. Eight points down with 75 is Batangas Birdie Boys. Summit Point 3 is runner third with 72.

In Division B, SPGA (75) was six points ahead of Honma 1 and Butuan LRG 1.

San Juanico assembled 54 points that was later matched by Team Herrera Raquino in Division C.  Barek 100 and GMJ Construction were tied at the helm in Division D with 50 points apiece.
