Apple sells more than Samsung in 2023

Apparently, Apple has, for the time first, sold more phones in 2023 than Samsung. This is according to the International Data Corporation. A second report, from Canalys, has also said.

Apple has sold 234.6 million. Samsung with 226.6 million. That’s quite the gap. The IDC also reports that this is the first time since 2010 that Samsung wasn’t on top of the list. 2010 was quite a year, as Nokia and BlackBerry were still quite popular back then, and the iPhone itself was still quite young.

I might be hallucinating, but during those ten years, Samsung also sold a large variety of phones from entry level, mid-range, flagship, and would from time to time, introduce some experimental ones–which included the Samsung Galaxy Round and the humongous Galaxy Mega–anyone remember those?

Not only that, the competition within Android phones have gotten intense with names such as HONOR, OPPO, and vivo, among others, taking a slice of that market share. So, there’s a lot of factors to consider.

But still, this shows that if Samsung wants to remain on top, they have to continue innovating. Which brings us, Samsung has just concluded their Unpack event where they showcased their newest smartphone.
