Tuflo, who chairs the Senate Committee on Energy, through his WTE bill, is also pushing a similar regulation in the Philippines.

During their discussion, Fu mentioned the importance of proper waste management to effectively harness energy from the WTE facility.

Hours before the same meeting, Tulfo conducted a site inspection at the Keppel Seghers Tuas WTE Plant (KSTP) to gather more information about the system and its operation.

Tulfo praised the operation of said WTE plant because it has a control room that allows the Singapore National Environment Agency to monitor its temperature and terminal waste emission 24/7 and in real-time to avoid waste hazards.

Tulfo said the meeting and visit are confirmation that the construction of WTE plants in the Philippines is safe and without risk and that WTE has great potential as a renewable energy source.

The senator earlier met with Singapore business executives  Lavan Thiru, Executive Director of Infrastructure Asia, Farchad Kaviani, Managing Director for Southeast Asia of SUEZ, Renee Mison Executive Director of Go Circular, Kunal Shah Chief Growth Officer and Managing Director of Anaergia, and Jens Moller, Engineering Manager of Ramboll.

Some of them are currently investing in the Philippines while others are just planning to invest.

During the meeting, the business executives discussed the benefits of Waste-to-Energy (WTE) as well as the obstacles they have encountered in operating it. They also suggested policies and solutions that could be used for a successful WTE System.
