The Las Piñas City government launched “Oplan Goodbye Bulate (worm)” in celebration of national deworming month which is being observed twice a year -- January and July.

According to Mayor Imelda Aguilar, the observance of national deworming month is geared towards the goal of the Department of Health (DOH) to eliminate intestinal parasitism among children.

Aguilar said the city government, through the City Health Office under the supervision of Dra. Julie Gonzalez, is offering free deworming among children, one to 19 years old.

She said the deworming among children will continue after six months.

The city mayor is encouraging all the parents to bring their children to the nearest health centers and avail of the free deworming services.

Deworming among the children is advised as it may cause sickness like anemia, malnutrition, weakness, malaise and constipation due to worm bolus.
