Archbishop Capalla to be interred on Jan. 15


The late Davao Archbishop Emeritus Fernando R. Capalla will be laid to rest on Monday, Jan. 15, the Archdiocese of Davao said in an official statement.

Davao Archbishop Romulo Valles signed the statement which said that the late Church leader will be interred at 10 a.m. after the solemn funeral mass at the San Pedro Cathedral.
 

Archbishop Valles will preside over the funeral mass with the priests of the Archdiocese of Davao.

Archbishop Capalla, 89, will be buried at the Dormitium de San Pedro inside the cathedral.

The archbishop passed away on Jan. 6.

He was born in the town of Leon in Iloilo on Nov. 1, 1934. He was ordained priest for the Archdiocese of Jaro on March 18, 1961.

Archbishop Capalla served as the third archbishop of the Archdiocese of Davao for almost 18 years before he retired on Feb. 11, 2012.
