Francis Casey Alcantara reached another milestone after propelling to a career-high No. 176 in the latest Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) doubles rankings.

The 31-year-old Southeast Asian Games champion leaped 23 notches from No. 199 last week following his performance at the Bangkok Open 2 ATP Challenger in Nonthaburi over the weekend where he claimed the runner-up honors with Chinese partner Sun Fajing.
Alcantara and Sun came close to clinching their first title this year but fell short to French third seed Gregoire Jacq and Manuel Guinard, 6-4, 7-6 (6), in the $80,000 event.
“Second place for my second tournament of the year. It was a great week with @sunfajing despite losing in the finals again,” Alcantara wrote on social media.
Alcantara and Sun seek another chance of claiming the crown when they compete in the third leg of the said ATP Challenger event.
They are set to clash with Thais Pruchya Isaro and Maximus Jones in the opening round Tuesday, Jan. 16.
This wouldn’t be the first time that Alcantara is facing the Thai duo after he and Uchida bowed to the same foe in last week’s semis match of this tournament.
