President Marcos said his administration’s amplified campaign against internal threats has been successful, as he reported that there were no more active New People’s Army (NPA) guerrilla fronts in the Philippines.

In a video uploaded to his social media accounts on Saturday, Jan. 13, the President lauded law enforcers for fulfilling their roles in the government’s efforts to counter internal security threats.

According to the President, as of December 2023, the government has neutralized 1,399 members of communist and local terrorist groups.

He also reported that the government seized 1,751 firearms through capture, recovery, and surrenders as of last month.

With this, President Marcos said the government will not stop its anti-insurgency campaign.

“Maaari na nating mai-report na wala ng active NPA guerilla front as of December 2023. Kaya patuloy nating ipaglalaban ito (We can now report that there are no more active NPA guerrilla front as of December 2023. We will continue this),” he said.

“These commitments underscore our steadfast commitment to peace and stability,” he added.

The Chief Executive likewise lauded those who were part of the government’s efforts against internal threats, particularly the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), the Philippine National Police (PNP), and the Department of National Defense (DND).

“Maganda naman ang performance ng ating AFP. Maganda naman ang performance ng ating mga pulis at maganda ang koordinasyon ng SND, ng Department of National Defense, lahat ng ating intelligence agencies (The AFP, the Defense Secretary, and the DND— all our intelligence agencies— showed good performance and good coordination),” Marcos said.

“Sila nagtutulungan kaya naman naging matagumpay ang ating kampanya kontra sa internal terrorism (They are working together that’s why our campaign against internal terrorism has been successful),” he added.
