CMV Vasco de Gama owned by German cruise line Nicko Cruises was carrying more than 600 tourists when it docked off Tagbilaran around 6 a.m. on Wednesday, January 10.

Aboard the cruise ship were 620 passengers, mostly German, and 520 crew.

Officials from the Department of Tourism (DOT), Provincial Tourism Office (PTO), and Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) welcomed them at the Tagbilaran port.

A drum and bugle corps entertained the guests with classical Filipino songs.

The visitors toured the province’s prime tourist spots such as the Abatan River in Cortes, tarsier sanctuary in Corella, Chocolate Hills in Carmen, and the Loboc River.

Before arriving in Bohol, the ship docked in Manila and Palawan.

It left for Australia on Wednesday.

“We are happy that we started the year with a major tourism activity. This is a big boost in our efforts to boost tourism in Bohol,” said Gov. Aris Aumentado.
