There’s no denying that a simple bowl of homemade chili is enough to warm anyone up. It’s an easy meal to fix up that doesn’t require many steps, perfect for those always on the move or those into meal prepping. Plus it’s packed with enough protein to give you strength and a good kick. Here’s a simple chili recipe that you can whip up yourself!

Homemade Chili

Serves three to five people.

Ingredients:

  • 2 pounds of ground beef (can be replaced with other meat of choice)
  • 1 white onion, finely chopped
  • 1 red onion, finely chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • Tomato paste
  • Worcestershire sauce
  • Pepper
  • Paprika
  • Chili powder
  • Cheese of choice
  • Jalapeños, diced
  • Vegetable broth

Procedure:

  1. In a bowl, mix the ground meat with the spices. Add as much pepper, paprika, and chili powder to suit your spice tolerance. For those who like their chili on the milder end, one to two teaspoons should be enough.
  2. Heat the pan before adding the white and red onions. Sauté until the onions start to brown before adding the minced garlic.
  3. Add the meat mixture and mix together in the pan. Cook until the meat starts to brown.
  4. Pour enough Worcestershire sauce to bring the meat to a simmer. Keep it on the heat for at least five minutes.
  5. Add the diced jalapeños and tomato paste. Mix thoroughly and keep on low fire before adding in vegetable broth.
  6. Cover the pot and allow the meat to simmer for the next 30 minutes or so, occasionally checking in to make sure it doesn’t burn.
  7. Adjust seasoning to your preference and add more spices if you’re looking for a stronger kick.
  8. While still hot, serve in a bowl and add some grated cheese of choice to top the chili. Pair with either rice, bread, or nacho chips.
