Phivolcs said a "voluminous" degassing produced a pronounced plume that rose 2,400 meters above the Taal Main Crater before drifting southwest to south-southwest.

Meanwhile, sulfur dioxide emission was measured at 10,933 tons per day as of Jan. 8, said Phivolcs.

However, no volcanic earthquake was recorded.

Phivolcs continued to warn the public of potential hazards such as steam-driven, phreatic, or gas-driven explosions, volcanic earthquakes, minor ashfall, and lethal accumulations or expulsions of volcanic gas while the volcano remained on Alert Level 1.
