Weather specialist Obet Badrina, in PAGASA’s latest update, explained the weather systems including the northeast monsoon or “amihan” and easterlies or the warm winds coming from the Pacific Ocean, will affect parts of the country.

“Dalawang weather system pa rin ang nakakaapekto sa ating bansa. Una diyan ang northeast monsoon o hanging amihan at ito ang magdadala ng mga pag-ulan partikular na sa bahagi ng Batanes at Babuyan Islands (Two weather systems still affect our country. Firstly, there's the northeast monsoon or 'hanging amihan,' which will bring rainfall, particularly in the areas of Batanes and the Babuyan Islands),” Badrina explained.

Due to the northeast monsoon, Badrina said cloudy skies with rains are expected in Batanes and Cagayan including the Babuyan Islands.

Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Central Luzon, CALABARZON, and the rest of Cagayan Valley will also experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to the “amihan.”

Meanwhile, Badrina said easterlies and localized thunderstorms might also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms in the rest of the country.

PAGASA warned of possible flash floods or landslides, especially during severe thunderstorms or due to moderate to, at times, heavy rains.

Due to the “amihan,” Badrina said a gale warning is raised in Batanes, Cagayan, including the Babuyan Islands and Ilocos Norte, as PAGASA expects strong waves ranging from 2.8 to 4.5 meters.

No LPA so far

Badrina noted generally fair weather is expected in the coming days.

“Wala pa din tayong imino-monitor na Low Pressure Area, wala pa din tayong bagyo sa loob at labas man ang Philippine Area Responsibility (We still don't have any Low Pressure Area being monitored, and there is still no typhoon inside or outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility),” he explained.
