A “Boy Bawang” firecracker caused the boy to lose his fingertip bone (distal phalanx) of the middle finger in his right hand.

This brought to three the total firecracker incidents in Muntinlupa as people welcomed the New Year on Dec. 31.

A 27-year-old man, a resident of San Guillermo Street in Barangay Bayanan, suffered an injury in the right eye due to trompillo.

In addition, a 19-year-old man from Balbanero Compound in Barangay Alabang suffered burns on his thumb and ring finger when a Kwitis exploded in his hand.

The three injuries happened as people defied and violated a Muntinlupa ordinance banning the use and sale of firecrackers and other pyrotechnic devices in the city.
