6 die, 2 of them infants, in tragic Tondo fire

Six people, two of them infants, died in a fire that broke out along Asuncion Street corner Padre Rada Street in Tondo, Manila, on Sunday morning, September 29.

The Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office identified the deceased victims as Christel Anne Salon, Ivan Morales, Monica Valisno, Bryan Jay Gutierez and the two infants aged 1 year old and six month old.

According to the Bureau of Fire Protection, the fire allegedly started at 4:39 a.m. from the second floor of a four-storey house. 

The fire was put under control at 5:23 a.m. and extinguished at 5:40 a.m.

Authorities said the victims were trapped at the upper floors of the house.

The fire did not spread to the adjacent houses. 

Investigators said an electrical issue is suspected to be the cause of the fire.

The investigation of the incident is still ongoing.
