Batang Kankaloos' creativity shines in cultural fashion show


The Caloocan Cultural Affairs and Tourism Office held the second cultural fashion show “Runway Caloocan” on Friday, September 20, showcasing the creativity and talent of local designers in the city.

' The event was open to the public without an entrance fee.

Fashion gurus Ehrran Montoya, Maxie Andreison, and  Mike Lim were among judges.

Mr. Reyjie Enriquez and Ms. Danica Sayo clinched the Best Male and Female Model awards, respectively, while Mr. Paulo Delos Santos from Barangay 178 was declared the Best Designer of the Year.

Mayor Dale Gonzalo “Along” Malapitan expressed his gratitude to the participants for showcasing the talent and creativity of Caloocan citizens. He vowed continued support to projects that would integrate the value of history, culture, and tourism into local livelihood and employment.

“Sa ating mga kalahok, kayo ang patunay ng natatanging talento at pagka-malikhain ng lahat ng Batang Kankaloo. Sana ay ma-inspire niyo pa ang mga kabataan na sumunod sa inyong yapak, sa pagsisikap na maabot ang inyong mga pangarap (To our participants, you are proof of the unique talent and creativity of all Batang Kankaloo. I hope you can inspire some young people to follow in your footsteps, in an effort to reach your dreams),” Mayor Along said.

“Asahan niyo po na patuloy na kumikilos ang ating administrasyon upang pahalagahan ang kasaysayan at kultura ng lungsod habang pinalalakas din ang turismo at kabuhayan para sa ating mga kababayan (You can expect that our administration will continue to act to appreciate the history and culture of the city while also strengthening tourism and livelihood for our countrymen),” he added.

City first lady and CATC Chairperson Aubrey Malapitan led the event.

“Hindi lamang kinang, kulay, at ganda ang ating nasaksihan. Ang bawat kasuotang ito ang nagkwe-kwento ng ating kasaysayan na isinalin-salin sa bawat henerasyon at patuloy na bumubuhay sa ating pusong makabayan (We witnessed not only glitter, color, and beauty. Each of these garments tells the story of our history that has been translated from generation to generation and continues to live in our patriotic hearts) ,” she said.

“Ang Filipiniana at Barong Tagalog ay simbolo ng ating pagkakakilanlan bilang mga Pilipino, at nagpapakita hindi lang ng yaman ng ating kultura kundi pati na rin ang mga sakripisyong ginawa ng ating mga bayani para sa kalayaang tinatamasa natin ngayon. Truly, our national costumes are our pride and glory (Filipiniana and Barong Tagalog are symbols of our identity as Filipinos, and show not only the richness of our culture but also the sacrifices made by our heroes for the freedom we enjoy today.
