“Ang Kainang Pamilya Mahalaga Day ay sumasalamin sa payak na pamumuhay ng maraming pamilyang Pilipino at sa pagtataguyod ng masagana, mapayapa, at matatag na pamumuhay (The Family Day mirrors the simple lives of many Filipino families and promoting an abundant, peaceful, and stable living),” she said in a message for the Family Day.

“Gayunpaman, paalalahanan sana tayo ng pagdiriwang na ito sa hinaharap na krisis sa pagkain ng maraming Pilipino (However, let us also be reminded by this celebration of the food crisis being faced by many Filipinos),” the Vice President added.

The Philippines is observing the 32nd National Family Week and Kainang Pamilya Mahalaga Day on Monday.

Kainang Pamilya Mahalaga Day is held every fourth Monday of September of every year, by virtue of Proclamation 326 issued in 2012.

The Kainang Pamilya Mahalaga Day is observed to highlight the national tradition of Filipino families sharing meals.

In her message, Duterte said that the celebration must also be used to reflect on the importance of simply sharing blessings and creating memories as a family.

“Hangad ko na sana ay makaranas ng ginhawa ang mga Pilipino, lalo na ang may mga karamdaman at nahihirapan sa buhay (I pray that all Filipinos experience comfort, especially the sick and those suffering in life),” she added.
