Work in all courts also suspended at 3 p.m. Monday, Sept. 23

Chief Justice Alexander G. Gesmundo has ordered the suspension of work in all courts nationwide, including the Supreme Court (SC) and the appellate courts, at 3 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 23.

In a memorandum order, Chief Justice Gesmundo said the suspension is in line with the country’s celebration of the National Family Week.

President Marcos had earlier suspended work in all executive offices starting 3 p.m. on Monday “to afford all Filipino families the full opportunity to celebrate the 32nd National Family Week."

Proclamation No. 60 issued in 1992 declared the last week of September every year as Family Week.

Under Proclamation No 326 issued in 2012, the fourth Monday of September every year was declared as “Kainang Pamilya Mahalaga.”

In his memorandum, Gesmundo encouraged justices, judges, officers and employees of the judiciary “to have a common family meal in their respective homes and spend more time with their families.”

In his memorandum, the President said “the suspension of work in other branches of government, independent commissions or bodies, and private sector is also encouraged….”

But the President said that agencies whose functions involve the delivery of basic and health services, preparedness, response to disasters and calamities, and the performance of other vital services shall continue their operations and render the necessary services.

All government workers in the Executive branch were also encouraged to fully support the programs and activities relative to the observance of Family Week, as organized by the National Committee on the Filipino Family.
