The Philippine National Police (PNP) has taken custody of an alleged former member of the so-called “Angels of Death” private army by detained Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) leader Apollo Quiboloy.

Police Col. Jean Fajardo said on Friday, Sept. 20, that the Angels of Death member confirmed the information earlier released by the PNP that the group is being used to threaten the alleged minor sexual abuse victims of Quiboloy.

“Yes, mayroon po tayong indibidwal na hawak po ngayon na sinasabi na siya ay dating miyembro diumano ng Angels of Death at pinatotohanan niya itong mga lumabas before sa atin na itong grupo na ito ay nagagamit para sa personal na interes ni Apollo Quiboloy at sila ay pinantatakot sa mga biktima diumano (Yes, we have taken custody of an individual who claims to be an alleged former member of the Angels of Death, and who confirms the information we released before that this group is being used for the personal interest of Apollo Quiboly and to allegedly threaten his victims),” Fajardo said in a livestreamed press conference in Camp Crame, Quezon City.

According to the PNP, the subject individual bared information that would corroborate the testimonies of Quiboloy’s alleged victims.

“May specific cases siyang ibinigay but sa ngayon hindi muna natin pwedeng ibigay (The subject individual gave specific cases but we cannot divulge it right now) so as to protect [his/her] security and the safety of [his/her] family,” Fajardo said.

She said that there were other former Angels of Death members who want to come out in the open but are afraid to do so because of security reasons.

“Nagkakaroon po ngayon ng pag-uusap para makausap rin natin at makaharap natin face-to-face ‘yung iba niyang mga kasamahan na tumiwalag na sa KOJC at handang makipagtulungan sa PNP (Discussions are ongoing to be in contact and meet face-to-face the other former members of the KOJC who are ready to work with the PNP),” Fajardo stated.

Meanwhile, the camp of Quiboloy had earlier denied the PNP’s allegations about the existence of Angels of Death.

KOJC legal counsel Israelito Torreon belied that Quiboloy is in command of the so-called Angels of Death and the accusation was part of the attacks against the embattled pastor.
