CARIGARA, Leyte – The municipal government has procured 12 emergency response vehicles for interior and upland barangays that would provide easier access to medical services.
Mayor Eduardo Ong Jr. said these fully equipped emergency transport vehicles will be turned over to clustered barangays that are far from the town proper.
Ong said that the project was conceptualized in 2022 and underwent a rigid procurement process before it was realized this year.
These vehicles have been customized to respond and provide first aid during emergencies.
“When I first ran as vice mayor in 2019, I mentioned that my grandmother died in an interior village in Cebu because the rescue (vehicle) arrived late and I want to avoid the same incidents from happening here in Carigara,” Ong said.
Ong assured service will be available to all during emergencies. Recipients will be responsible for maintenance and operation.
