Melisa Navarra, DOLE-6 OIC assistant regional director, said these was a high compliance rate of 90 percent for general labor laws and 82.6 percent compliance rate with OSHS law in the first eight months of the year  in 1,310 businesses with 135,831 workers they inspected from January to August.

Navarra noted a high compliance rate in the past two years in the region comprised of Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, Iloilo, and Negros Occidental provinces as well as the highly urbanized cities of Iloilo and Bacolod.

DOLE-6 said there was a 94.65 percent compliance rate in GLS and 92.9 percent compliance rate for OSHS law last year in 1,625 establishments with 103,906 workers were inspected.

From July-December 2022, there was a compliance rate of 96 percent for GLS and 93.1 percent for OSHS law.

“Of course, the challenge is appointing a safety officer and having first aid plans,” said Navarra at the Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas hosted by Philippine Information Agency-6.

Navarra reiterated to establishments that have no safety officer or have no safety plans that these are imperative and that DOLE can provide technical assistance.
